TERM 3 Lesson 5 November 2nd-November 5th

Today:

1. We checked upon the last exercises to the text "Reading the Screen".
2. We read "The Bridges of Maillart" and reviewed past tenses pronunciation from this text, as well as other words´meaning and their pronunciation + developed a couple of comprehension exercises.
3. We watched the video in Virtual Sabana (week 14), IELTS Section 3 and analyzed it for type of connectors used and grammar plus feedback on pronunciation.
4. We practiced with the topic school for IELTS Section 2 and then devised 5 questions related to the same topic for section 3.
5. We had a final speaking sample with one randomly-chosen student in class.

Homework: Summarize the text titled "Tackling Obesity in the Western World", which can be found in Copy No. 139 - Bldg. G

TERM 3 Lesson 3 October 25th-October 26th

Reminders:
1. We are working on daily reading practice. Please do not forget your copies (No. 122 / Bldg. G Copier).
2. Video script to be handed in on Thursday / Friday this week.

Today:
1. IELTS Practice: "In Praise of Amateurs" : we read the entire text and checked upon vocabulary and the pronunciation of some words, then completed a summary completion exercise.
2. We reviewed some linkers (connectors) on page 92 (Class Book) and figured the structure of for-against essays (to be written next class)
3. We analized the video script format and solved some questions about it. The introductions to some of the scripts were revised.

Independent Work / Homework:
1. Finish the exercises related to the reading titled " In Praise of Amateurs" (Matching people to their opinions)
2. Summarize the following text in the copies (no more than a 100 words): "Reading the Screen"
3. Bring your completed video script (printed) and send a copy to my e-mail (angelafa@unisabana.edu.co)

TERM 3 Lessons 1 and 2 October 18th-October 22nd

In these two lessons:

1. We had a general feedback session.

2. Listened to the exam audio and compared answers.

3. We talked about the Final Video submission dates:
a. Thursday October 28th - Friday October 29th: video script hand-in (group grade)
b. Thursday November 4th - Friday November 5th: script is returned with corrections and suggestions + pronunciation of script text is checked and practiced in class
c. Thursday November 11th - Friday November 12th: Video is handed in (CD format) (individual grade based on individual performance during the video)

4. We discussed about the importance of practicing reading daily with different topics. We summarized the first reading (copy No. 122 Bldg. G) and the two following texts´summary must be handed in next class. Reading comprehension exercises will be developed during class time.
