This is what we did in class today and what we should plan for next class:
1. Short presentations by students on the use of modal verbs in present and past paying special attention to exceptions and special uses. Reference: page 153 Class Book.
2. Translation exercise: teacher provided students with some sentences in Spanish for them to translate into English concerning modal verbs.
3. Homework revision: Unit 9 Workbook exercises related to modals.
4. How to use connectors mini-workshop: use of connectors related to punctuation and coherence: moreover, therefore, however, otherwise, even though, although, furthermore.
5. Project work for this week: problem-solution essay
Homework / Independent Work / For Next Class:
1. Sentence transformation exercises using "level 7" connectors. Page 97. Copy No. 45
2. Bring information about your country and issue to develop in the essay next class. If this information is not brought next class (individually), you will not be allowed in the classroom. It is an essential part of next class. Do think about an issue which is particular to that country (unemployment, global warming, abortion are common topics to many countries...do research about an issue which is representative of that country).
